Google Maps has reached North Carolina, and I naturally had to check out the house that I grew up in. I've walked around the block, to my friend Gwens house on Pemberton Drive, and to Mr&Mrs Woten's home, it all looks pretty much the same.. except much smaller than I remember it. ;) When I still had training wheels on my bike, this driveway was a hill, I'm telling ya.
That massive tree planted next to the mailbox is exactly as old as I am, as my mother planted it for me. The room on the right was originally a garage, my father made it an indoor playroom for us kids. A few weeks after he did that I started my moms car somehow and smashed into the wall, barely denting it but it was high drama in my little life at the time.
I also found Raleigh Skyline has great photos of Raleigh today, and some showing off how folks in Raleigh will sled ride on almost anything when it snows. My first N.C. style sled ride was my mothers steel bake plate, down the "hill" of our neighbors house 1202 Chardon Court.
