It might be a silly name but I love that machine dearly (that also might be really sad but if you think that, you have never owned a scooter), my friend Martin understands this passion for ten-inch wheeled machines and has also put up wanted signs all over town, see the swedish scooterclubs page and Martin's own page with description for instance.
I hope we find him in one piece.
Yes, it's a "he". My logic is that when a woman owns it, the vehicle is a he.
Adland created by "Ask" an advertising Art Director in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, contains all manner of e-mail threads and rants about the world of advertising. It's best known section, called Badland, contains similar ads shown side by side that were either ripped off, or are mere coincidences. One such example on the site is the Foster's take on Molson Canadian's "The Rant". And if you've got a rant of your own you might want to check this site out... changing the names to protect the innocent, of course.
Last night while I was bowling in blacklight with flourescant balls I was hitting the gutter and other lanes more often than pins. Until the last ball - they had called "shutdown of the lanes in two minutes" and said to everyone to keep bowling as many balls as they could before the counters/computers were turned off. Everyone rushes so much that they bowl like me - miserably. That's when I get a strike with only one second to spare. Workmates seem to only remember that strike, so it really aint what you do, it is the way that you do it.
My 1968 Vespa Primavera with lots of chrome and a white leather seat has been stolen in Stockholm.
I'm pissed off, not just because it's stolen but because the thieves might sell it for spare parts. The morons it is worth a hell of a lot more as it is! Please vespa-god, don't let them pick it apart. I'd rather see someone buy it in good faith and take good care of it.
"Orange", my 1968 Vespa Primavera
If you see this driving around in Stockholm, or get an offer to buy it - please let me know as I want to know that my scooter is alright. I get a funny emotional attachment to my machines.
In CINT newsletter week 42 year 2000, they give the linktip to check out Badland at Adland.
HAVE YOU SEEN IT BEFORE?
Have you seen it before? At Ad-Land you have a section where you gather
advertising that is clear plagiarism of other advertising. Occasionally incredibly funny
and almost equally astonishingly obvious theft of ideas. It is easier to
Be critical of advertising when you read about all the countless examples
published here
"For the seasoned enthusiast, Commercial Archive brings together as many television commercials as possible. This website now offers "seven full hours of viewing pleasure" with mainly American commercials. The commercials are arranged both alphabetically and by subject and can be viewed in streaming video or downloaded.
Commercial Archive is one of the advertising sites hosted by DaBitch. The same host is also responsible for Adland, a somewhat messy collection of advertising gossip, jokes and discussions."
omg omg omg
Only tangentially related - this is the week I just can't keep my mouth shut.
Apparently a nasty mail I sent off to Adformatie, has been printed ...
And now I worry that the ad I attacked might have been made by someone I know. Oooops.
It was a Yo Fresh ad, where the young urban Hip-Hop guy plays his hit song on the radio for his girlfriend "Yo Fresh - exiting" and when she asks where he might have gotten the inspiration from he replies: You baby - yo so fresh.
Now in the States a woman would have slapped him silly.
But this was an ad written by Dutch people, who couldn't have known that "fresh" is most of the time an insult. Make that all the time.
On the BBC before the news, they now show little clips shot from CCTV, together with a quote from the latest crime statistics.
Today the clip was of people around a cash machine and the voiceover saying "Plastic fraud is up, please be careful."
Next week it'll be: "Everybody out there, please BEHAVE NORMAL!...or we'll make SPECTACLE out of you on NATIONAL TV."
And the week after that it'll be: "You, yes you with the purple-blue stuff in your hair, walk straight, will you? Stand up! And where do you get off wearing a sporron? You're not even Scottish for chrissakes!"
I'm truly terrified of the future of reality TV. CCTV.
Most mornings I sit and watch the BBC news. Mainly because they never go through the entire show without screwing up at least once, and in a funny way, but also for the guy who reads all the newspapers and reports on his findings. Comparing articles, making smart alec dead serious but funny comments. I like that guy. I never have to read the newspapers anymore. He reports on the news about the news.
I just realized that with all the adnews-links I put in here and on Adland, I've kinda been doing the same thing lately. Isn't that sad? We've become newsfilters instead of newsreaders, and the audience is getting an ever more watered down version of what is happening. Like homeopathic news. The water remembers the original story, sure.
