Dabitch.net - Everything is so random there must be a pattern

Hi, I'm Åsk, I'm a geeky creative director. Here I share whatever is on my mind and the occasional script.

Dabitch.net - Everything is so random there must be a pattern

Ha!

OMG! The snow is like.. THIS deep!

Have you seen my bike?

This is uncharted territory. If I'm not back in time for my nap, send a search party - okay?

Arts and crafts, or interior design for the wee one

Arts and crafts, or interior design for the wee one

Here's a fun way to let the wee one help out in decorating. Dress items in bokmärken. I don't know what these lovely paper pictures of angels, animals and scenes from fairytales are called in English, but you can get them in any toy shop around here. The rules are - there are no rules! Just come prepared with hundreds of pictures and let the wee one stick them everywhere they please. We're going for the messy look!

Perle proudly displaying her works. We dressed her little strollcart and her chair. I dressed her cabinet behind her with leftover wallpaper.

For the cart, my mistakes were that I didn't prepare enough, I should have cut some bookmarks up before we began. She quickly got tres bored waiting for me to get my act together and we had to return later. Then when I went to lacquer it, I used an oil-based lacquer which gave it a bit of a yellow tint. Turned out ok anyway, actually kinda neat and antique, but not the look I was going for. The glue is normal wallpaper glue, so that she could use as much as she wanted really, and I could just brush it around with the wallpaper brush and then remove it with a wet cloth. Washes straight off hands, so that's no problem. Better than glue anyway - if adults were doing it I think a good glue would be less of a hassle since too much wallpaper glue makes the paper wobbly.

Another thing to learn is that babies use a lot of wallpaper glue and it's best to let it dry at least a day before going at it with lacquer - you can see the glue in small piles on the chair.

Still, not bad for a 16-month-old! ;)

Ära den som Äras Bör!

Ära den som Äras Bör!

"I want the credit!"

Svenska Dagbladet: Check out Adland's amazing archive

"K-fed tog hem årets superbowl", Martin Jönsson talks about the super bowl ads in Svenska Dagbladet and reminds everyone that Adland has them all. (archive link, web archive 2007)

Some articles about the Super Bowl commercial from the night's news feed:

Advertising Age: see all the movies - and watch a seven minute movie with reviews by all of Bob Garfield.
Vote for the best contributions from the Wall Street Journal, which considers this year's set of Superbowl commercials to be unusually weak.
The New York Times about the violence trends in advertising and its possible link to the war in Iraq (?).
Directly, quarter by quarter, on Adland. Also check out Adland's amazing archive of 35 years of Superbowl movies.

Who likes water? Opinions are falling apart, but Nationwide advertising with Kevin K-Fed Federline at least tops the list of this year's snack ice cream.
And by the way: the Indianapolis Colts won, as expected. On the field, that is.

Our wee link in New York Times.

We provided 16 of the 23 commercials (though we have all of them) for the graphic, you can shortcut to the ads on Adland from this post here. The New York Times gracefully listed Adland as a source, both with name and URL.

To quote myself from when I posted about this on Adland:

Naturally, we have all the ads (and more, hehe) that the NYT used in their fun graph - here are the ones they picked as standout ads from each year. Two minor mistakes in the gray lady - the year 2000 Etrade ad does not contain a monkey but a chimp, which is an ape. The Tabasco spot is from 1997, not 1998. I nitpick, I know.

Wallpaper yum! Tapeter från tapetorama.

Perla chose her own wallpaper. Perla loves her wallpaper, and we painted the bottom half of the wall with magnetic paint before papering, so she can put magnets everywhere that she can reach - a game that never gets old. Trivia, this wallpaper was the first batch of old wallpapers that Tapetorama got when he started his shop.

I'm pretty sure I heard his heart actually break when he saw my rather dismal job of putting it up. ;) It's still awesome though.

This wallpaper is the one we thought we would use in the diningroom, back when we planned to only do one wall. We changed our minds and did a whole room instead though, and there wasn't enough rolls of this to cover it. So if you fancy a wall or two and want roses, this is a cool batch.

We had to get one that had a few more rolls. And we took all of them, here's ours, from the 1950s with glittery gold!

Internetworld: form och funktion 06 - Best design and functions 2006

Back in 2006, the magazine "Internetworld" listed the top ten best designs and functions of the web that year, and pointed to Adland as an example. "At the advertising blog Adland they use tags to categorize the commercials that are uploaded"

"It is with the smart services that your website can excel and become a real success. Get inspired by ten first-class online services that improve our lives."

I was quite excited to get some attention and kudos for having created tags as a feature on Adland.
